Slideshows

October 20th, 2009 by Greg

We’re married! OK, I guess that’s old news. We’ve been so super busy. We’re not going to abandon the blog, but we just haven’t had much time to update it. I’m going to post a link to my personal smugmug page that has some slideshows. The first is a slideshow of our favorite photos from Karen. The next 3 are the slideshows I made that were playing during the reception.

Enjoy!

If you want to look at ALL the pictures and buy prints, you can do that on Karen’s smugmug page. Pics from the family dinner are available too.

5 days to go…

August 24th, 2009 by Greg

Um… we’re getting married this week. We’re not too nervous, though. Maybe that will change by Friday. :) Anyway, things are really coming together. We’ve had lots of great help from friends and family who have done lots of yard work with us and pitched in with other preparations. Thanks! It really has meant a lot to us and made our lives a little less hectic. We’re really excited to see all our friends and family this weekend. We’re also looking forward to spending a week and a half on Kauai with no wedding plans to worry about.

I’d also like to thank my employer Apple for deciding to honor our wedding by releasing Snow Leopard on Friday. That will give me enough time to install it prior to the wedding on Saturday. Thanks Steve!

Want to give a tax deductible gift?

August 10th, 2009 by Judy

We both have stuff – lots of stuff and we don’t really need more stuff, so instead of gifts we are encouraging people to donate to a water project that we are raising money for. As a bonus, your contribution is tax deductible! Click on “Gifts” on the side bar to the right for more information.

I’m a dough girl

August 5th, 2009 by Judy

What happens when a designer opens a cookie shop? Designer cookies. A fellow Salt Lake City designer I know has opened her own cookie shop. They only have cookies and they do them right. It’s called My Dough Girl and fortunately/unfortunately it is located not too far from my work. They have a selection of gourmet cookies of various flavors plus a “dough girl” of the month. I think my favorite is Gabrielle – a chocolate ginger cookie with crystalized ginger in it. But every cookie I have tried there is excellent. I could never reject any of the dough girls.

We’re not cake people, so instead of a wedding cake we wanted to do some kind of dessert that we really like. I think Greg would have gone for cheesecake since that is his favorite, but after bribing him with samples of these cookies, I convinced him that this was the way to go. Tami (the owner of My Dough Girl) worked with me to develop the perfect orange cookie to use in a cookie tower for our reception. It was hard work to go in and sample the test cookies, but somehow I survived. Now that the recipe is decided and I haven’t gone in for more tastings, I’m starting to go through withdrawals. I might need to pop in soon for my cookie fix.

Engagement Pictures – Downtown

August 3rd, 2009 by Greg

About a month ago Judy’s good friend Nancy walked around downtown Salt Lake City with us for some engagement shots. We asked her to help us get some pictures that didn’t look like traditional engagement shots. We took a few that are more traditional, but think we got some great unique shots as well. We didn’t end up using these for the invitation, but are going to use them at the reception in a slideshow, as well as our guest sign-in book. Here’s a few of our favorites from the session:

Engagement Pictures at The Tower Theater

July 31st, 2009 by Greg

We had an idea for some shots in a movie theater and The Tower Theater was kind enough to let us use their space. Judy and I got there about 30 minutes early to set up the lights and the camera, then our friend Emily Clifford showed up to man the camera for us. (Woman the camera?) We really like the shots we got! Emily was great at helping us relax and coaxing some good looks out of us. Thanks Emily! Here’s a few from the session, with the triptych we used for the invitations at the end of the set…

Invitations

July 31st, 2009 by Greg

My talented friend Kristen Johnson designed the wedding invitations for us, and we think they’re just fantastic. Thanks for all your hard work on this, KJ, we’re really happy with the result. These should be in the mail on Monday. Here it is!

Four Weeks to Go!

July 31st, 2009 by Greg

The invites will go in the mail Monday most likely, and then the blog will start getting some traffic! We’ll try to keep the blog updated, and then after the wedding this will turn into our regular blog for the general goings on in our life. We’ve tried to put all the relevant wedding information in pages you can access by clicking on the links in the sidbar (on the right.) You can always click the header to take you back to the front page of the blog.

Judy and I went to a wedding reception tonight and started getting really excited. We’ve got 3 more receptions to go to in the next few weeks. Must be a popular month for marriage. Time is going to fly by. Things are coming together and we’re almost ready with the preparations. I’ve heard being married is different than being single. I guess we’ll find out soon.
